The Norwegian Centre for ICT in Education

The ICT Centre strives to make digital learning more effective in schools, thereby increasing the quality and value of education in general. The centre is a dynamic and future-oriented organisation, and they needed a new visual identity to reflect this. The identity works on different levels, addressing the need for breadth in their outward communication to a wide range of target audiences.

The website communicates the centre’s work and highlights the high levels of competence in the organisation. Optimal user experience was prioritised and there are many routes into the content. All content is marked with themes, target audiences and content type, and also related to projects and employees. Clean design and legible typography strengthens usability and the use of crisp, clean colour represents a modern organisation with wide-ranging appeal.

Tank has designed a new visual identity from one of Norway’s largest and most international corporate law firms – their offices are in Oslo, Bergen, London, Singapore, Shanghai and Kobe. This complex and multi-faceted job has finally come to fruition through a complete visual identity programme which covers everything from logo development to a client magazine and signage programme. The website will be launched early next year, using the latest web technologies.

Tank has created the identity, website and exhibition for Nasjonalbiblioteket’s (The National Library of Norway) latest and greatest project – Nasjonens hukommelse (translation). The exhibition consists of 100 objects from the library’s 200-year old archive, each object being voted into the exhibition online. The objects are a mixture of books, advertising, radio and TV programmes, films, photos and original manuscripts from Norwegian personalities. Will this exhibition say something about who we are? Turn me on, goddammit

Tank was responsible for both the design and marketing material for “Få meg på, for faen” (“Turn me on, goddammit” in English), a funny and frank film about teenage horniness and rebellion. The film is about 15-year old Alma, her sexual awakening and the consequences of broadcasting it to her peers. The film has already been highly praised and was awarded the prize for best screenplay at the Tribeca Film Festival this spring. Jannicke Systad Jacobsen wrote the screenplay and directed the film, with support from production company Motlys. The premiere is on the 19th of August. Read more at www.facebook.com/FaMegPaForFaen.

Forest Europe

On Tuesday 14th of June His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon opened “FOREST EUROPE – Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe” in Oslo. Representatives and ministers from 46 countries gathered to ensure effective management of Europe’s forests.

Tank developed the visual identity and the majority of conference materials. The identity symbolises trees and forests, and also network-building and diversity.

Dag Solstad

The Norwegian National Library decided to mark Dag Solstad’s 70th birthday with an exhibition at their Oslo premises, and also commissioned online and and poster exhibitions in libraries all over the country. The exhibition contains books, newspapers, journals, audio clips, TV programmes and manuscripts which have never been on display before.

Tank designed the exhibition, drawing inspiration from El Lissitzky (the avant-garde Russian artist) who is in many ways the godfather of our profession. The final design consists of a strict colour palette and simple graphic shapes in dynamic compositions.

Abelia

Abelia is NHO’s business association of knowledge-based and technology-based enterprises. To mark their 10th birthday as an organisation Abelia commissioned a new visual identity and website, asserting their position as the central source and voice for debate within Norway’s commercial knowledge base.

We based the logotype on a logical rhythm derived from simple geometric shapes. The colour palette signifies modernity and technology through consistent use of blue, signal yellow and grey. We re-used lines and circles from the logotype as supporting graphic elements, strengthening the idea of using individual elements to construct a whole.

The result is a simple and clear visual identity which reflects Abelia’s sobriety and professional competence.

Fruktsjimpanse

The brief: Mack had a small range of different sodas, the task was to redesign these more into a family of products with a clear connection between them. Solution: We expanded the universe of the Fruit Chimpansee (Fruktsjimpanse), the most successful of the five sodas. The name Fruktsjimpanse was liftet up as brand name for the whole series, only differed with colours, illustrations and the names of each taste.

Dyrøy

The brief: Dyrøy Foods have high quality products, but needed the packaging that could make them stand out as clear and different. Solution: The hexagon shaped box is custom made, and stands out in the stores because of it´s carracteristic shape, and it´s emphasis on the product inside. The package is kept in 100% recyclable brown cardboard, supporting the honest and sober impression. The hexagon is easily stacked both in production, transportation and in shelves.

Arctic Beer

The brief: Mack’s number one-product, Arctic Beer, was changed from being a standalone product, to a series including Light and Ice versions. The client wanted a modern and young look with similarities from the predecessor – while at the same time being something new and fresh.

The solution extends and simplifies the elements that were the mainstay of the identity, but with more emphasis on the brand name and the cold freshness. The arctic purity, the clear and fresh water it is made of, and the brewery being the worlds northernmost, is the very base of the concept.

Mack Cider

The brief: Create a packaging design for Macks first alcoholic cider product. Cider is itself relatively unestablieshed product in Norway. Mack want to take a position as a leader in this market. Solution: The cider is made from pure, natural ingredients and the design is clean, fresh and modern. The quality of the content gets to play a key role with the transparency of the label. Colour coded top distinguish different flavors, along with the colour of the content. In addition, the back label is printed with the same colour code on the inside.

Mack Tradisjon

The brief: The customer wanted a packaging for a series of traditional beers of high quality. The packaging was supposed to reflect the history, culture and pride that is behind the brewing process. Solution: Mack Spesial is a recognizeable series that differs from the typical supermarket beer. The design has, as the beer itself, a touch of history and distinction that appeals to serious consumers, beerconnoseurs. The partly transparent label gives space and attention to the colour and quality of the content.
