The brief: Tromsø University wanted to increase recruitment from upper-secondary schools. Solution: A fully illustrated school diary designed for 18-year-olds and distributed to all in the target group. The book included a unique access code to an exclusive online community allowing students to meet faculty employees and administrators. Result: A record high number of applicants.

The brief: The Norwegian Army, struggling with recruitment, contacted Tank. Solution: An exclusive online community which turned around the concept of “called up”, with its negative connotations, to the more positive “selected”. Result: A high-spirited online community where questions and answers poured in, resulting in the greatest influx ever and the most motivated soldiers ever.

The brief: Design a clear user interface for a complex satellite-monitoring system. Result: A tailor-made system which has already been adopted by NASA and others.

Freeze

The brief: Design of Mack’s first alcohol-free beer product, to appeal to an active and sporty target group. Solution: Cool, refreshing design with references to mountain sports. Result: Within only a few months of the launch, Freeze was by far the biggest-selling alcohol-free beer in northern Norway.

The packaging for the beer Smrprty has got lots of attention and appeared in several design books and magazines. In addition it received the highest Norwegian design award: Merke For God Design. The jury said: “(…) one of the most creative solutions ever used in the Norwegian brewery trade”. Smrprty has been an echonomical success since the first year. Later on it has been expanded to a series including a Lite version, Afterski and Xmasprty.smrprty_smallsmrprty_lite_small

The National Book Design Awards

We received a diploma in the National Book Design Awards (Årets vakreste Bøker) 2008 for our Cookbook for all book, a book all Lower secondary school students gets for free.  The book itselt was initiated by The Directorate for Health and Social Affairs and published by Gyldendal. The jury’s comment was: “Fresh and functional cookbook. Clear and easy to use. Puts healthy food on the agenda!”.

Gold in Sterk Reklame

Tank Design won 1 gold and 5 diplomas in the annual Sterk Reklame award show in Trondheim last weekend. Halvors won the gold and the diplomas was projects for Mack Brewery, Tromsø International Film Festival and the University of Bergen.
